Checklist
Recommended Items for Track Day
These are items that I bring along and/or have seen recommended. (And no, I don't bring all this stuff.)
- Paperwork / Tech sheet
- Entry form / directions to the track (including phone numbers)
- AAA card (or any other towing company)
- Local dealer, repair and tire shop info
- Wallet & cash
- Track gear (helmet, neck brace, racing suit, shoes, gloves, etc.)
- Shop manual for your car
- Tools (torque wrench, side cutters, screwdrivers, pliers, etc.)
- Duct tape (as useful as you think)
- Painter's tape (for covering lights and other breakables)
- Zip-ties (multiple sizes)
- Jack (& stands)
- Bungee cords / rope
- Cardboard (or something else to lie on)
- Gloves (disposable)
- Scissors
- Fuses
- Jumper cables
- Tire gauge
- Compressor (or tire-pump)
- Infrared pyrometer
- Paper / shop towels / rags
- Zip-lock bags
- Windex (or your favorite window cleaner)
- Fluids
- Oil (extra quart or three and possibly a funnel)
- Brake fluid
- Coolant
- Snacks (and possibly lunch)
- Water (at least a six pack)
- Wheel chocks (brick or piece of wood works too)
- Vehicle ramps
- Layers of clothing (usually cold in the morning, hot in the afternoons)
- Sunglasses
- Hat
- Sunscreen
- Chapstick (w/sunscreen)
- First aid kit
- Ear plugs (how loud is your car?)
- Folding chair
- Tent / awning / canopy (you may make a lot of friends with this one)
- Raincoat / umbrella (should rain be in the forecast)
- Camera (in-car, point & shoot, etc.)
- Reading material (books / magazines)
- Cordless drop light
- Cell phone (& charger)
- Pens/markers
- Notepad
- Clipboard
- Razor scooter / bike (some paddocks are pretty large)
